“Grrr!” — the sound of a ‘feral beast’

The media is a “feral beast” and its relationship with politicians is “damaged”. The words of Tony Blair today who decided to devote one of his last speeches as Prime Minister to the idea that the media is creating cynicism. He says we need to separate “News” and “Comment”.

Having read the (soon to be ex) PM’s transcript from yesterday’s speech, and after watching Paxman last night, because I am a ‘visuals man’, I can’t help but think back to a time of New Labour advertising and media campaign success. A time when the media embraced the contemporary and were in love with the NKOTB.

Yesterday, I got even more riled than I normally would when, once again, a politician continues to insult the intelligence of free thinking individuals. What I saw was a ‘once-leading’ public figure, who has successfully controlled the media with his own spin, inaccuracies and blatant lies, stands up in front of the world’s press, just before his time is up, to call them a ‘feral beast’ — all because they no longer love him, or his lies.

I can’t wait to see who is on ‘his’ honours list.
