metacritic

I am not a neo-Luddite, far from it. I just live in the middle of a forest. I have my satellite TV and my DSL and I like it that way.

Metacritic has an interesting way of scoring and ranking entertainment media releases. On the left side of the GUI there is a list accompanied by score. Metacritic offers an explanation of how these scores comes about. It does include scores from professional critics but doesn’t include those of users who are free to post on the site.

I appreciate the aggregate scoring but wonder if there is a more effective system that might include common users, consumers. I realize that juking the scores and rankings must be a concern. Is there a robust example of a professional/consumer scoring system out there?
